DRFG strengthens its presence in Slovakia with the acquisition of another telecommunications infrastructure

Through its telecommunications division, investment group DRFG has successfully completed the acquisition of Progres-TS, a company that owns an optical and cable TV network in the Bratislava region. This transaction marks another step in strengthening its position in the Slovak infrastructure market.

"The telecommunications sector is crucial for our group. We currently operate in five European markets, and we aim to further expand our activities. That’s why we are constantly looking for opportunities that make sense for us, and this acquisition was one of them," says Roman Řezníček, CEO and co-shareholder of DRFG Investment Group.

Progres-TS was founded in 1996 and now operates a so-called hybrid network in the Bratislava region. This network consists of an optical and cable TV infrastructure known as CATV. Within its optical network, the company manages 10,000 FTTH (fiber-to-the-home) connections.

"I believe our company will be in good hands. DRFG Investment Group has the expertise and resources to ensure further development, not only in infrastructure but also in the services provided," says Marian Kutaj, the former owner of Progres-TS.

DRFG’s telecommunications division has long been involved in building, modernizing, and maintaining telecommunications networks. Its partners include major global telecommunications companies such as Swisscom, Salt, Cellnex, Vodafone, Ericsson, Nokia, Huawei, Cetin, T-Mobile, O2, and others. The group entered the Slovak market 22 years ago under the Suntel Slovakia brand and has recently acquired majority stakes in TeleDat and Lukromtel. Additionally, its subsidiary FibreNet focuses on optical infrastructure and owns a backbone network running from Bratislava to Ukraine, spanning over 650 kilometers of optical cables.

"Optical networks play a key role in digital infrastructure. They provide the fastest data transmission, which is also highly stable, secure, and reliable. In today’s world, that is a crucial advantage and a strong reason to invest in this sector," explains Roman Řezníček.
